Jeremy Gim Chapter 2 pt. 1 by ~nxh:iconnxh:

Jeremy opened his eyes and sat up on his queen sized bed. He stretched, put on a
sleeveless t-shirt and a pair of blue jeans (that were a size too big), and then lit a
cigarette. Picking up an ashtray, he walked into the living room and sat on the couch.
He took a drag on his cigarette, blowing out the smoke and popping some ash into
the tray. His mothers' funeral had been 6 weeks ago. His sister, Alexis, had sent him
another letter that told him how stupid he was for not coming the funeral. He hadn't
replied.
Jeremy Gim is a fire-weaver. This is just one of the many terms that means: 'one
who creates and controls fire with his mind'. His mother had thought that his gift was
a brand of the Devil and condemned him for it. She called him names, threw things at him,
and more, unspeakable things. But now she was gone, and it had all stopped.
Then, his phone started ringing. He answered it. "This is Jeremy Gin, how are you
?" he asked.
"Hey, Jeremy!" said the voice he knew so well. The voice that lifted his spirits
and his heart.
"Oh, hey Kate!" he said. "Whats up?"
"Nothing. I was just wondering if you wanted to come with me to watch a movie
tonight?"
"Oh, I'd love to. What movie, what time?" he asked her, looking at the clock on
the wall.
"The new "Friday" is out, it looks good. How about that at 6:30?"
"Sounds like fun. I'll pick you up at...how about 6:00?" Jeremy stood and walked
into his room, picking out some clothes.
"Awesome. See you then!"
Jeremy kissed the phone, grinning, and hung up. He started up the shower, got
dressed, and left.

When Jeremy got to Katies' house, she was waiting for him on her doorstep. He got
out of his car and walked up to her crouched figure.
"Ready to go?" he asked, holding out his hand. She took it and smiled her perfect
smile.
"You bet," she said. Kate was dressed somewhat casual in faded blue-jeans, a tank
top and a blue zip-up hoodie, but Jeremy thought she was beautiful.
"You're not wearing your glasses," he observed.
"Oh, yeah, I found some old contacts because my glasses broke. Sorry," she said,
if somewhat nervously.
Jeremy smiled. "nothing to be sorry about! I think you look gorgeous." This caused
Kate to blush a bit, so she decided to try and hide it by smiling smugly at him. She started
walking towards his car. Jeremy walked in front of her and opened the passenger door for her.
When she was safetly in the car, he closed the door and got in the drivers seat. He started
the car and thus begun the long night that would change both of there lives.

Jeremy and Kate talked and laughed on the way to the theatre. They discussed the
"Friday the Thirteenth" series, and what they thought the new movie was going to be like.
During the movie there was quite a bit of screams, and Kate clutched Jeremy tightly, quietly
squealing when she was scared. It wasn't akward, but it was kind of ironic. Jeremy had never
he would as get close enough to any girl as he was to Kate. But there was only one problem,
and Jeremy knew it.

He was a fire-weaver.
And Kate didn't know that yet.

They exited the theatre, laughing and holding each other while they talked about
the movie.
"The ending was amazing! I mean, I kind of expected him to jump up at her in the end,
but it was still scary!" She rested her head on his shoulder.

Everything was going great, until the theft happened.
He heard the woman scream and then he heard the gunshot. People screamed. Kate
screamed. That was all he needed. He ran into the alley that the gunshot had come from,
right in front of the man with a gun. The man pointed the gun at Jeremy. Jeremy growled,
broke the mans hand, grabbed him by the shirt, and slammed him against the wall. he looked
to his right. There was a woman, about 32, shot in the arm. She would live, but she would
do it painfully.
Jeremy hurled the man to the floor and opened his palm. A baseball sized sphere of
flame popped into existance in his palm. He kneeled on the mans chest and got close to his
face. "You are going to live after I leave," he whispered. "But you're going to do it
painfully. Just like her" He closed his fist and punched the man in the face, burning his
face. With every punch, the walls reflected orange light as the man was struck in his chest,
shoulder, stomach. Finally he stood up and walked over to the woman. She was breathing heavily.
Jeremy picked her up and started towards the hospital. Kate stood in front of him wide-eyed.

"What the fuck was that?!" she said loudly.
Jeremy looked at her. "Kate, this woman is dying. I will take her to the hospital,
and then we will talk, i promise"
Kate closed her mouth. "Oh i can't wait for this, Jeremy."
